    Ethical Orientations and Attitudes of Hispanic Business Students.Jason Flores & Arturo Z. Vasquez-Parraga - 2009 - Journal of Academic Ethics 7 (4):261-275.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the attitudes and orientations of Hispanic business students regarding ethical and unethical actions as well as what rewards or punishments are considered appropriate for specific scenarios. A survey was developed using a 2 × 2 randomized experimental design to measure students’ ethical orientations and 38 items were developed to measure students’ attitudes regarding factors that can influence the decision to cheat or not to cheat. The results suggest that Hispanic business students are (...)

Examination of cyber aggression by adult consumers: ethical framework and drivers.Mei Han & Arturo Z. Vasquez - 2019 - Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society 18 (2):305-319.
Purpose The widespread use of information and communication technologies enables consumers to obtain and share information whenever they feel the urge. With the advent of review websites and forums, companies and business owners may find themselves victims of consumer cyber aggression, which can hurt a company badly. This study aims to explore why consumers would engage in cyber aggression against companies, and to that end, it examines consumers’ ethical orientation and other possible drivers of cyber aggression. Design/methodology/approach To examine how (...)

Organizational consequences, marketing ethics and salesforce supervision: Further empirical evidence. [REVIEW]Bülent Mengüç - 1998 - Journal of Business Ethics 17 (4):333-352.
This study comparatively examines supervisory reactions of Turkish sales managers to potentially ethical and unethical salesperson behaviors while replicating Hunt and Vasquez-Parraga (1993). Four scenarios representing ethical and unethical conditions of over-stating plant capacity utilization and over-recommending expensive products were presented to the managers. As a result of this comparative study, it is empirically demonstrated that Turkish managers primarily rely on the inherent rightness of a behavior with a focus on the individual (i.e., deontological evaluations) in determining whether a (...)

    The Evolutionary Origins of Consciousness: Suggesting a Transition Marker.Z. Z. Bronfman & S. Ginsburg - 2016 - Journal of Consciousness Studies 23 (9-10):7-34.
We suggest an approach to studying consciousness that focuses on its evolutionary origins. The proposed framework is inspired by the study of the transition from inanimate matter to life, which proved extremely useful for understanding what 'life' entails. We follow the theoretical and methodological scheme put forward by Tibor Ganti, who suggested a marker for the transition to life -- an evolved feature that is sufficient for ascribing dynamic persistence to a minimal living system and that can serve as a (...)

"it's what midwifery is all about": Western Australian midwives' experiences of being 'with woman' during labour and birth in the known midwife model.Z. Bradfield, Y. Hauck, M. Kelly & R. Duggan - 2019 - BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth 19 (1).
© 2019 The Author. Background: The phenomenon of being 'with woman' is fundamental to midwifery as it underpins its philosophy, relationships and practices. There is an identified gap in knowledge around the 'with woman' phenomenon from the perspective of midwives providing care in a variety of contexts. As such, the aim of this study was to explore the experiences of being 'with woman' during labour and birth from the perspective of midwives' working in a model where care is provided by (...)

    Territoriality, map-mindedness, and the politics of place.Camilo Arturo Leslie - 2016 - Theory and Society 45 (2):169-201.
Political sociologists have paid closer attention of late to the territoriality of political communities, and have even begun theorizing the theme of territoriality’s legitimation. To date, however, the field has mostly overlooked the topic of maps, the quintessential territorial tool. Thus, we know little regarding maps’ crucial role in shaping modern subjects’ relationship to territory. This article argues that “map-mindedness”—i.e., the effects of map imagery on how subjects experience territory—can be productively theorized by working through the social-scientific concept of “place.” (...)

The similarities between the philosophical debates surrounding assessment sensitivity and moral luck run so deep that one can easily adapt almost any argument from one debate, change some terms, adapt the examples, and end up with an argument relevant to the other. This article takes Brian Rosebury's strategy for resisting moral luck in “Moral Responsibility and ‘Moral Luck' ” (1995) and turns it into a strategy for resisting assessment sensitivity. The article shows that one of Bernard Williams's examples motivating moral (...)

Phenomenology and the creation of poetry offer ways to understand life different from the one proposed by sciences or conventional knowledge. Phenomenology and poetry send us to a universe of different horizons and layers where it is possible to find and discover essential truths about the being and his existence. This possibility to find transcendental truths that enriches human knowledge over the place and the role of men in life (Lebenswelt) is a primordial event where language establishes new forms of (...)

The paper examines Jung's conception of psyché as one of the explanations of human being denying the autonomy of the conciousness and trying to grasp man´s original and natural relationship to himself, to his world and to God. The author is concerned to show, that Jung's notion of psyché embodying the consciousness as well as the individual and collective unconsciousness, tries to postulate the essential unity of man and world, seeing the distinction between the subject and the object as unjustified.
